The Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification Prasoon Joshi has decided to back out from attending the Jaipur Literature Fest (JLF.) The Rajasthan police guaranteed Joshi’s safety but the noted lyricist decided to not take the risk.
Prasoon was quoted saying, “Will not be attending JLF this year & must say will miss sharing great moments with literature and poetry lovers. I am doing this so that the dignity of the event does not get compromised or discomfort caused either to the organizers, fellow writers or the attendees.”
The CBFC Chief was forced to miss out on the Literary Fest after the Karni Sena threatened him from entering Jaipur after he clearedPadmaavat for release. According to this fringe group the film is insulting to the Rajput history, sentiments and traditions.
Meanwhile, Joshi spoke about clearing Padmaavat he said, I did my job and sincerely took a sensitive and balanced call. Certification was done with due processes, incorporating valid suggestions whilst staying mindful to concerns of society and cinema.Sad that we are not relying on genuine peaceful dialogue.”
The 11th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival began on the 25th of January.
