The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards hosted on Sunday was an amazing event with an all women line up. The event was hosted by American actress Kristen Bell and had only female award presenters.
The film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri was the highlight of the show as it won three awards. Frances McDormand was awarded Best Actress for her role in the film. Sam Rockwell was given the Best Supporting Actor Award and the movie also won the highest SAG honor the Best Ensemble.
Gary Oldman who played Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour was honored with Best Actor. Allison Janney won Best Supporting Actress for her role in I, Tonya.
Outstanding Performance in a Limited Series was given to non other than Nicole Kidman for Big Little Lies. For her acceptance speech Kidman said, “How wonderful that our careers today can go beyond 40 years old. Twenty years ago, we were pretty washed up by this stage in our lives. This is not the case now.”
Aziz Ansari was expected to win the Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Master of None. But that honor was given to drunk dad from Shameless William H. Macy. The Award for Best Drama Ensemble went to waterworks show This is Us. Best Ensemble for a Television Comedy was awarded to HBO’s political satire Veep.
