Every now and then we see actors bulking up or losing weight trying to experiment for their characters, but when was the last time we’ve seen an actress putting on lot of weight for a character and coming back to her normal state immediately?
Anushka Shetty has defied the rules of Indian cinema to show that an actress can do whatever it takes to get in to the skin of the character and not fearing about one’s future. This gutsy 34 year old has put on so much weight for her role in “ Size Zero ” that she reached a whopping 125 kilos and to beat that, she has equally reduced once she completed the shoot. Best part is there is no change in her skin tone or her beauty while going through a series of whirlwind changes. How many actors/actresses can even dare to achieve this feat without the fear of their career?
The most commendable part of this whole process is, Anushka going through all this at the peak of her career when she has the biggest budget movies of Tollywood in her kitty and taking time out for a clean happy go comedy kind of a film in between which requires to be plump. We all know the fitness freak she is with her yoga back ground and the serious fitness regime that she’s going through for Baahubali and Rudramadevi, with ‘The Conclusion of Baahubali’ slated to release in 2016 and her role in this movie demanding a lot of action, she is supposed to be gearing up with a fit body and on the contrary we see her in a fat, chubby character. Very few actresses get the respect in the industry and the audience during their career, Anushka is one who is respected for what she is and the kind of movies she has done in her career, it’s not an exaggeration to include her in the very few list of actresses like Savithri and Soundarya whom the Telugu audience love for their achievements and class
After the long list of never ending applauds for Anushka, let’s see if the teaser of “ Size Zero ” has generated enough buzz required for it to be a blockbuster post release.
The teaser as expected shows a very fat disgruntled Anushka busy eating fatty foods and cold coffees throughout the teaser, struggling to fit in to the best of the modern clothes or the ethnic ones. What looks like is a series of comedy of errors that happen due to her excess weight, the teaser looks promising with light hearted humor written all over it. Anushka looks cute with the kind of weight she has put on and Tamil hero Arya looks really good and nice to see him in a straight Telugu film. The film title is funny with a tag line ‘Sannajaji nadumu’ and a weighing machine indicator pointing 90 kilos. The film is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi (K.Raghavendra Rao’s son) who most certainly has a creative eye but yet to prove his mettle at the box office. Story written by his wife Kanika Dhillon who works in the story department for Bollywood, predominantly in Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment. She has worked for films like Ra.One, Om Shanti Om, Billu Barber.
