Udta Punjab Censor Row: HC To Pronounce Verdict On June 13

Bombay HC overrules CBFC, clears 'Udta Punjab' with just one cut - MANGO NEWS

Mumbai: Looks like the battle between the CBFC and the makers of “Udta Punjab” is getting uglier day by day. On Friday, the High Court of Bombay hinted only one suggested cut in the forthcoming drama. The fight between them began when the Censor Board had demanded 89 cuts in the movie. With this, one of the producers of the film, Anurag Kashyap had written a petition to the High Court.

The court questioned over various cuts and demanded an explanation on the same in a three hour long hearing. The HC also told the CBFC to only ‘certify’ films and not ‘censor’ it and also added that the audience is mature enough to understand the content. But then the court was adjourned to June 13.

After the hearing, the advocate of the makers said, “We have offered disclaimers in three parts to the effect that movie doesnt put any state in bad light. There is no propagation for drug abuse, we condemn drug abuse. Lets wait for Monday.”
