Tirumala: A massive fire broke out in the kitchen near the Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala in the early hours of Friday. The kitchen, in which world famous ‘boondi’- an ingredient that is used in making Tirupati ladoo, caught fire. Two fire engines were rushed to the spot to fight the blaze and they soon bought the fire under control.
The fire panicked the workers and pilgrims. The fire had spread quickly due to the large quantities of ghee stored in the kitchen that further fueled the flames.
TTD Executive Officer Dr D. Sambasiva Rao and Tirumala Joint Executive Officer K. Srinivasa Raju inspected the kitchen and directed the engineering staff to take measures to prevent such occurrences in future.
