100 Years of RSS: Nationwide Celebrations Begin in October

Kovind to Join Centenary Vijayadashami Utsav in Nagpur

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is preparing for its biggest milestone yet — 100 years of RSS. The centenary celebrations will begin on October 2, 2025, and continue until next year’s Dussehra. During this time, the Sangh will hold over 1 lakh gatherings across India, making it one of the largest outreach campaigns in its history.

The opening event will be the Vijayadashami Utsav at Reshimbagh ground in Nagpur. Former President Ram Nath Kovind will be the chief guest, while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will deliver the keynote address. According to publicity head Sunil Ambekar, the number of swayamsevaks at the event is expected to triple compared to last year.

100 YEARS FOR RSS

Nationwide Events Planned

To mark 100 years of RSS, the organization has lined up a wide range of programmes:

  • Over 1.03 lakh mandal and basti-level gatherings across the country.

  • Children’s and cultural shows in Nagpur on September 28 and October 5.

  • Dialogues and forums in Bengaluru (November), Kolkata (December), and Mumbai (February).

  • An all-India meet of spiritual leaders and social workers in Jabalpur.

  • Invitations to global dignitaries from Ghana, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, the UK, and the USA.

Alongside these events, the Sangh will also run a door-to-door campaign to highlight its role in nation-building, cultural revival, and Swadeshi promotion.

Purpose and Vision

Through this centenary, the RSS wants to do more than just celebrate. It aims to:

  • Break free from a colonial mindset and push self-reliance.

  • Promote India’s identity as a Hindu Rashtra.

  • Expand its grassroots base by setting up new shakhas across towns and villages.

Why It Matters

The 100 years of RSS celebrations showcase how far the organization has come — from a small group in Nagpur to a nationwide cultural force. With Kovind’s presence, global participation, and a massive outreach plan, the Sangh is not just honoring its past but also shaping its future direction.
