28 killed, over 61 injured in explosion at Turkey’s capital Ankara

Turkey: At least 28 people were killed and over 61 injured when an explosion hit military vehicles at an intersection in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday evening.

The explosion hit three military vehicles and a private vehicle in central Ankara while the vehicles were stopped at a traffic light, the military said. The authorities believe that the bomb-laden vehicle was caused by the explosion.

The Turkish military condemned the “terrorist attack” on the buses.

President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey’s determination to fight those behind such acts would only get stronger and that it would not hesitate to exercise its right to self defence.

“We will continue our fight against the pawns that carry out such attacks, which know no moral or humanitarian bounds, and the forces behind them with more determination every day,” he said in a written statement.
