Guwahati: An earthquake with magnitude 7.3 jolted Assam at around 12:35 PM on Tuesday. According to the Central Seismological Observatory in Shillong, the earthquake with epicentre in Nepal was on latitude 27.6 degree north and 86.6 degree east at a depth of 18km.
The quake created panic among the people as they rushed for a open ground. So far, no loss of life and property has been reported. One killed in Bihar and another in Uttar Pradesh after the quake hit North India. Nearly four persons were killed in Chautara after the powerful earthquake rattled Nepal on Tuesday.
