Odisha: Seven people died when a speeding truck lost control and ran over them at Randha under Golanthara police station limits in Ganjam district of Odisha early in the morning today. Six persons including a women on the spot while another died in MKCG medical college and hospital in Berhampur.
This tragedy took place around 5.30am while the deceased were boarding the bus which was parked on a village road adjacent to NH16. According to police sources, driver of the speeding truck travelling on the highway had lost control over the vehicle for some reason. The truck rammed into the crowd that had gathered up to board buses and other vehicles.
Ganjam district collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. They tried to pacify the angry mob that had tried to block the highway following the accident.
