Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the upcoming Goa and Gujarat Assembly elections independently, without forming alliances. Senior party leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi confirmed this decision, stating that AAP had not engaged in alliance talks with any party, including the Congress.

Addressing the media in Goa, Atishi emphasized AAP’s commitment to independent politics, recalling how Congress initially won 11 seats in Goa’s 2022 elections, only to see eight MLAs switch to the BJP. Currently, Congress holds just three seats, while AAP retains two MLAs, despite speculation that they would defect.

Dismissing the idea of alliances with like-minded parties, Atishi questioned Congress’ credibility, asking, “If their MLAs are joining the BJP, where is the similarity in ideology?” She also accused the BJP of attempting to lure AAP legislators, stressing that AAP remains committed to public service, not power or money.

Reacting to AAP’s recent electoral losses in Delhi, Atishi warned of consequences for citizens, alleging that the BJP plans to shut down 250 mohalla clinics, halt free medicine schemes, and deteriorate government school education standards.
