Amaravati: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has emphasized that the academic calendar for school education should remain free from political influence. In a significant move, the new academic calendar was released without photos of the Chief Minister or any concerned minister. Lokesh, who also oversees IT and Electronics, asserted that government educational institutions must operate independently of political considerations.
During a review meeting with senior School Education officers at his Vundavalli residence, Lokesh stressed that textbooks and training materials for teachers and students should not feature political messages, photos, or colors. He announced that elections for school management committees, whose terms ended in July, will be conducted in August.
Lokesh assigned the supervision of mid-day meals and campus amenities to parent committees, emphasizing the importance of maintaining hygiene in school toilets. He instructed officials to call for tenders to supply necessary cleaning materials. Additionally, he reviewed the functioning of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in the state and indicated that a new route map for these institutions would be announced soon.
The minister approved filling vacant teaching and non-teaching positions at Kasturba Gandhi Girls schools and asked officials to formulate guidelines.
