Jammu: On Saturday, the Amarnath yatra was suspended due to a landslide. The heavy downpour in Udhampur district triggered a landslide and due to this, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed. Other traffic was also blocked on the highway.
According to, Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Traffic National Highway said that due to heavy rains, a landslide closed the 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National HIghway at Kheri in Udhampur district on Friday night. He added that the landslide forced authorities to suspend the Amarnath yatra. The highway is expected to reopen by Saturday evening as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) clearing the landslide.
