Amit Shah, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Law and Justice and Electronics and Information Technology Minister of India resigned from their posts.
On the 29th of May, Amit Shah and Ravi Shankar Prasad submitted their resignations as members of the Rajya Sabha.
Both Mr. Shah and Mr. Prasad were elected as the Members of Parliament (MP) from Gandhinagar and Patna Sahib constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections.
By winning almost 300 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party defeated the Indian National Congress (INC) and won the elections.
