Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Chairman GV Reddy announced the dismissal of 410 employees appointed during the previous government for lacking proper qualifications and appointment documentation. Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Tuesday, he revealed that investigations uncovered irregularities in their recruitment, with another 200 questionable appointments under scrutiny.
GV Reddy stated, “These individuals joined without valid appointment letters. While we could recover funds under the Revenue Recovery Act, we are being considerate toward lower-level employees.” He attributed the organization’s financial strain to pending bills of ₹1,260 crore from banks and ₹900 crore from monopolists, which have pushed AP FiberNet toward bankruptcy.
Legal Notices to Former MD
The chairman disclosed that show-cause and legal notices have been issued to former MD Madhusudan Reddy for authorizing illegal appointments and signing salary cheques. “He is accountable for these actions. We may also initiate an inquiry into his assets and wealth accumulated during his tenure,” Reddy added.
Payment Recovery from Ram Gopal Varma
GV Reddy further highlighted that ₹1.15 crore was unlawfully paid to filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Tathagata Films. “A 15-day deadline has been given to return the funds. If not complied with, we will file a legal case,” he said, accusing the previous government of tarnishing the organization’s reputation ahead of elections.
