Vijayawada: AP government is heading to take bold steps to control the ration Mafia prevailing in the state. Government is heading to register cases against the ration mafia under PD act and also seize the rice mills involved in the illegal trade of ration rice.
Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan recently inspected Kakinada Anchorage port and was shocked to see the rice Sortex machines and tonnes of ration rice ready for illegal export. Pawan expressed anger over the port authorities for not letting him inspect the ship ‘Stella’ which was caught exporting PDS rice.
Pawan took the issue seriously and directed authorities to seize the ship. Later the state government now aimed at identifying the root causes for the rice smuggling.
Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar said that the door delivery system of rice introduced during the YSRCP regime itself is a big scam and the system is meant to buy back the rice from the beneficiaries. Manohar said that a green channel is in operation right from Rayalaseema districts to Kakinada port which helped the mafia to smuggle the rice easily.
Sources said that the government is now eyeing to stop door delivery of ration and bring back the old concept of ration supply at depots.
