Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has called for a greater focus on providing basic infrastructure in government schools. During a review meeting, Lokesh emphasized the need to improve school facilities, including leak-proof buildings, benches, clean water, and functional toilets. He also stressed the importance of setting up computer labs and adding more classrooms where necessary.
To enhance student performance, Lokesh suggested conducting a state-wide study to improve handwriting through the use of copybooks and drawing books. He highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives based on his recent visit to a Srikaqulam school.
Addressing the declining enrollment in government schools, the minister directed officials to identify the root causes and implement corrective measures. A mega parents-teachers meeting will be held on November 14th to gather feedback and improve school performance.
The government also plans to strengthen libraries at the district and village levels and establish a world-class Central Library in Amaravati. The minister announced that Dasara holidays will commence from October 3rd.
