In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved several key IAS officer transfers at the Secretary level across important ministries. The order, issued on March 31, 2026, highlights changes aimed at improving governance and administrative efficiency.

One of the most important changes is the transfer of Shri Sanjay Jaju. He has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). Earlier, he was serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This move is seen as significant, as the DoNER ministry plays a crucial role in the development of India’s North-Eastern states.

At the same time, Shri Chanchal Kumar, who was serving as Secretary in DoNER, has now been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This exchange of roles between the two senior officers ensures continuity and brings experienced leadership to both ministries.

Apart from these two key appointments, the ACC has also announced several other important changes. Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma has been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, along with additional charge of the Department of Pensions. Shri Narendra Bhooshan will take charge as Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, while Shri Srivatsa Krishna has been moved to the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The reshuffle also includes appointments in departments such as Finance, Rural Development, MSME, and Tourism, showing a wide-ranging administrative update.

Overall, this reshuffle reflects the government’s focus on placing experienced officers in key roles to improve efficiency and governance across ministries.
