Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed confidence in transforming the medical sector by leveraging cutting-edge technology during the first convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Amaravati on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of “MedTech science” and urged medical students to master technologies like DeepTech to make healthcare more accessible and efficient, limiting hospital visits to emergencies.
The event was graced by President Droupadi Murmu, who was celebrated by Mr. Chandrababu for her inspiring journey from a tribal village in Odisha to the highest office in the nation. Highlighting AIIMS Amaravati’s significance, the Chief Minister announced the allocation of an additional 10 acres to the institute, complementing its existing 183-acre campus in Mangalagiri.
Mr. Chandrababu lauded AIIMS for achieving national recognition within six years of its establishment, following the foundation laid in 2018. Built at a cost of ₹1,618 crore, the 960-bedded facility is ranked eighth nationally. The Chief Minister commended AIIMS for providing affordable healthcare services and pledged continued support to elevate its status further.
He also announced plans to invest ₹50,000 crore to develop Amaravati into a global hub within three years, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiatives like AIIMS, IIT, IIM, and Girijan University in the state.
