Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revant Reddy announced the ambitious Musi River Revival Project, clarifying that it is not a mere beautification effort but a complete revival of the river. Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat, Reddy highlighted the significance of the project, aimed at improving the lives of those living along the river’s catchment area.

“The Musi River, which stretches over 300 km, holds historical and geographical importance, flowing right through the heart of Hyderabad. What we are doing is reviving the Musi, not just beautifying it,” said Reddy, addressing criticisms and false narratives. He added that certain groups have been spreading misinformation about the project.

Reddy emphasized that no residents from the Musi catchment area will be forcibly evacuated, contrasting this approach with past projects like Mallanna Sagar. “Our focus is to provide a better life for those living in Musi’s catchment. Unlike other projects, we have not evacuated anyone,” he noted, adding that two-bedroom houses and Rs. 25,000 compensation will be provided for displaced families.

In response to previous leaders’ plans, Reddy challenged political figures like KTR, Harish Rao, and Etala to live along the Musi banks for three months to understand the real issues and support the project’s completion.
