On Wednesday, a 43 year old man lost control over a domestic issue and allegedly stabbed his wife 25 times to death. The incident took place at their Dilshad Garden residence in Delhi.
In a fit of rage the father even injured his 15 year old son who attempted to save his mother’s life.
The victim identified as Rekha, 36 was repeatedly stabbed by her husband Vinod.
Nupur Prasad, DCP at Shahdara said, “As per the medical report, the woman received around 20 -25 stab wounds, including 11 major ones.”
The DCP also informed that Vinod the accused, a banquet manager has absconded and the police are making attempts to nab him.
According to the police, Vinod got into an altercation with his wife, Rekha at 5:30 A.M. The fight led to Vinod stabbing his wife in anger.
The official also reported that Vineet the 15 year old son heard his mother screaming and rushed to find his father stabbing his mother. The boy tried to intervene to save his mother but was stabbed in his hand.
Vinod immediately absconded by running out of the doors of his brother’s flat on the same floor of the building. Vineet unbolted the flat to told his uncle about what had happened.
The two victims, Vineet and Rekha were taken to GTB hospital. The woman was declared dead on arrival and Vineet was admitted for treating his hand.
The police were quoted saying, “His condition is said to out of danger and his statement was recorded late in the evening.”
Investigations have showed that the couple would regularly get into fights but the stabbing was a sign of a long standing grudge the husband had towards his wife.
