Guntur: In a comprehensive review at his Mangalagiri residence on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed deep concern over the alarming financial decline of Swachhandra Corporation. Once robust with Rs. 2092 crore in funds during the 2020-21 fiscal year, the corporation now faces a critical shortage, with just Rs. 7 crore remaining—barely sufficient to cover five months of salaries.

Pawan Kalyan scrutinized the corporation’s financial records and waste management strategies implemented across the state. He discovered a troubling timeline: Rs. 728.35 crore was utilized in 2020-21, and an additional Rs. 508 crore in 2021-22, leaving Rs. 1066.36 crore by the end of that year. However, by the start of 2022-23, only Rs. 3 crore remained.

The Deputy CM demanded an explanation from officials regarding the drastic depletion of funds. Financial records for 2022-23 show that Rs. 70 crore was sanctioned by the central government and Rs. 20 crore by the state, yet only Rs. 46 crore was spent. This year, Swachhandra Corporation raised Rs. 239 crore but spent Rs. 209 crore, leaving a meager Rs. 7.04 crore.

He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, questioning why the corporation, once well-funded, now struggles to meet basic financial obligations. The Deputy CM demanded a detailed report on where the funds were redirected and under whose orders these actions were taken.
