In a tragic case of ignorance, a pair of 5 year old twin girls died in a locked car. The two sister were left in the locked hot car for two hours yesterday afternoon in Gurgaon near Delhi. The two girls were with their grandparents for the summer in the Pataudi area in a village called Jamalpur. The girl’s father is in the Army and is posted in Meerut.

The girls named Harsha and Harishita were unconsious in an old Hyundai car that was parked in the backyard of the grandparents house. The girls often played in the car and were found two hours later.

The two were rushed to a private hospital and were declared dead. There were signs of the girls struggling to get out of the car but failed.

The girls were supposed to return to their parents in Meerut and go back to school in a few weeks.

The relatives reported that the girls got locked in the old Hyundai Elantra car by accident. The car was old and the locking system was defective even the windows could not be rolled down.

The family realised around 4 P.M., that the girls were missing and started looking for them frantically.

Govind Singh, the father of the children emotionally spoke of his children, “When my daughters were born, there was so much joy in the family. Both of them had been admitted to the Central School in Meerut. Everyone saw them as very promising, they were sharp and naughty.”

He was weeping quietly and said, “Once, they nearly climbed a thousand volt pole… No one knew that both would be gone…, that my daughters would also leave this world together.”

Kanwal Singh, the girls’ uncle said, “Who knew that Harshita and Harsha, born together and always together, would go like this…?”
