Delhi: Key leaders of ‘INDIA’ alliance proposed All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge as their prime minister candidate. Senior leaders like West Bengal chief minister Mamta Benarjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and others proposed the name of Kharge as the prime minister candidate in the ‘INDIA’ alliance partners meeting held on Tuesday.

Kharge softly rejected the proposal and asked the alliance partners to focus on winning elections and then think about the portfolios. Ahead of parliament elections, leaders of 28 political parties, who are part of the INDIA alliance, conducted a strategic meeting at Delhi and discussed the action plan for the election.

Congress party former president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Bihar CM Niteesh Kumar, NCP president Saradh Pawar and other key leaders attended the meeting. The meeting strongly condemned the suspension of 151 MPs of INDIA alliance from parliament sessions for questioning the attack on parliament and decided to take nationwide protest on December 22, 2023.

Kharge addressing the media said that prime minister Narendra Modi is in a dream that he is the savior of the country. “Modi is not courageous to address parliament on breach of security at Lok Sabha. While parliament sessions are in progress key ministers are busy with inaugurations and programs at the constituency. The INDIA alliance will focus on winning elections. We will work together to defeat the NDA,” Kharge said.
