Kashmir: Army attacked by Terrorists

In Qazigund area of Anantnag, Kashmir, terrorists attacked an Indian Army convoy killing one army personnel and seriously injuring five others.

The attack was carried out at Kulgam district Lower Munda, near Lower Munda toll post in Qazigund area. The five men injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital. A group of Army personnel has been assigned for a search mission to nab the militants. Lower Munda is located 100 km from Srinagar on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway.

In February 2017, a similar attack was carried out that claimed the lives of three soldiers including a Kashmiri jawan from Anantnag in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Shopia attack was plotted by Hizbul Mujahideen that ambushed the Army. The attack also resulted in the death of a civilian, who was hit by a stray bullet.

Bipin Rawat, the Army Chief General paid tribute to the slain soldiers and informed that he has reviewed the complete security situation that is being done in the Valley hinterland following to the Line of Control.

The Army Chief briefed the local commanders and troops and insisted they continue to carry out their painstaking duties with professionalism.
