Today at around 4:10 A.M., heavily armed terrorists attempted to enter the camp of the 45th battalion of CRPF and opened fire of the soldiers. In the encounter, four terrorists were killed by the security forces at Sumbal in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A police official reported, “All four of them were killed in the retaliatory firing and the suicide attack was foiled.”

Once the encounter was done, the officials recovered four AK-47 rifles, one UBGL (Underbarrel Grenade Launcher) and ammunition.

The area of Sumbal has been sealed off and a search operation is being conducted.

The security forces have reported the terrorists were attempting a massive suicide attack on the camp. But the CRPF soldiers shot at them before they could enter the camp foiling their plans.

DGP Shesh Paul Vaid from Jammu and Kashmir reported the situation on his Twitter account.

The camp that was attacked is the headquarters of the 45th battalion headed by Chetan Kumar Cheeta, who has survived nine bullets while fighting terrorists last year in Bandipora.

The area has seen little peace with the continuous attacks from terrorists and Pakistani troops still violating ceasefire along the Line of Control.

On Saturday, two soldiers were killed and four were injured after terrorists attacked an army convoy in South Kashmir’s Lower Munda toll post. The attackers managed to escape this attack.
The attack was done on the same day the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh said that there was a major fall in infiltration, “Infiltration has reduced by 45% post surgical strikes in the last six months.”
