In a pulsating climax to the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women pulled off a breathtaking chase to capture their second WPL title, defeating Delhi Capitals Women by six wickets at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara on Thursday.

After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals set a daunting target of 204 for 4 in their 20 overs, powered by a quickfire 57 from Jemimah Rodrigues and a steady 44 from Laura Wolvaardt. Delhi Capitals posted the highest total ever in a WPL final, raising strong hopes of ending their long wait for a title.
RCB produced one of the greatest run chases in the league’s short history. Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a commanding 87, while Georgia Voll supported brilliantly with 79, the pair sharing a massive 165-run partnership that swung the momentum entirely in RCB’s favour.
With the equation down to the final over and nerves fraying, RCB reached the target in 19.4 overs, completing the highest successful run chase in a WPL final and sending the stadium into raptures.
For Delhi Capitals, this marked another near miss — their fourth consecutive defeat in a WPL final — prolonging their wait for a maiden championship.
The victory not only underlines RCB’s rising dominance in India’s premier women’s T20 league but also highlights the growing depth and competitiveness of the WPL, as fans savoured a finale rich in drama, skill and sporting spirit.
