Narendra Modi, on the 27th of May, visited Varanasi to perform rituals at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

This is the first visit of Mr. Modi to Varanasi after winning the Lok Sabha elections as the Member of Parliament from the Constituency.

Acharya Ashok Dwivedi, the Priest of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple said, “This is our fortune that Prime Minister will perform puja with all rituals like he did in 2014 Lok Sabha and state elections. He is the biggest devotee of Vishwanath baba. Even before the rituals start, he devotes himself to god, you can see tears of devotion in his eye.”

Post the pooja, Mr. Modi addressed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers around 12:00 P.M., at Deendayal Hasthkala Sankul, Varanasi.

Mr. Modi won the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat  with a margin of 4.7 lakh votes against Ajay Rai, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate from the Indian National Congress (INC.)

This will be the 2nd term of Mr. Modi as the MP of Varanasi. In 2014, Mr. Modi won against Mr. Rai for the first time.

On the 26th of May, Mr. Modi also visited Ahmedabad, Gujarat to meet and take blessings of his 98 year old mother. Later in the day, Modi addressed a public rally in Ahmedabad and thanked the people for their support in helping him to win the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP workers in Uttar Pradesh welcomed Mr. Modi and Amit Shah, the President of the BJP and congratulated them for their victory in the elections.

On the 30th of May, Mr. Modi is scheduled to be sworn in as the Prime Minister of India and form the Government.
