On the 3rd of May, Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari said the Country is going to start constructing a train linking Kathmandu to India and China within the next two years.
While making the announcement, the President said the first transborder railway between India and Nepal will be planned during the coming fiscal year. With regard to this, Bhandari said, “Railway service will be made operational within the next fiscal year at Jayanagar to Bijalpura and from Bathnaha, India to Biratnagar. The construction of the railway at Bijalpura-Bardibas segment will be completed.”
The project for this railway system was completed after having a detailed discussion with all the neighbouring countries. Discussions were also held with the two nations involved in the project.
