The Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal on 30th of August to attend the fourth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit.
This is PM Modi’s fourth visit to Nepal during his current tenure. He had left for Nepal this morning via special chartered flight and landed at the Tribhuwan International Airport around 8:30 A.M. Nepal’s Defence Minister, Ishwer Pokhrel welcomed the Prime Minister for the summit.
The BIMSTEC summit which is stated to hold for two days, from today to 31st of August.The BIMSTEC summit is the regional group of seven countries which lies near the Bay of Bengal. It includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
It is said that the PM Modi will have a sideline meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
In his tour of Nepal, the Prime Minister will also hand over the Hospice built in the premises of the Pashupatinath in Indian aid to Nepal. The Hospice is claimed to have facilities like that of a three-star hotel and the Indian Government has given assistance of 22 crore Nepali rupees.
The Nepal Army is designated to take on the central charge of the security during the BIMSTEC Summit.
