K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji, the Minister of Dairy Development of Tamil Nadu, called Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ‘Daddy’ of the All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Bhalaji said, “Of course, Modi is our Daddy now. Since we have lost our Amma, PM Modi has come as a Daddy to guide and support us. Modi is not only the Daddy for the AIADMK, he is also the Daddy for the Nation. Hence, the AIADMK has forged an alliance with the BJP.”
Mr. Bhalaji addressed a Party meeting at Srivilliputhur in Viruthunagar district and said, after the demise of Jayalalitha, the former President of the AIADMK, it was PM Modi who guided the Party.
However, during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the then leader of the AIADMK, Jayalalitha, was against Modi and his Government. She even raised slogans such as ‘Tamil Nadu’s Lady or Gujarat’s Modi?’
In contrast to the 2014 situation, the AIADMK and the BJP recently formed an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.
Rajenthra Bhalaji also answered the question as to why, despite Jayalalitha’s hatred towards Modi, the Party forged an alliance with the BJP. He said, the decision of Amma (Jayalalitha) was different, but now, Modi is India’s father.
It can be said, the major reason behind the alliance is to give a tough fight to the opposition Party in Tamil Nadu, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK,) after they formed an alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC.)
Speaking about the seat sharing for the elections, the AIADMK gave a total of 5 seats to the BJP out of 39 seats.
Tamil Nadu will contest a total of 39 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled between April and May 2019.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the INC and the BJP.
