Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced a significant three-nation diplomatic tour covering Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15 to 18, 2025, aimed at strengthening India’s political, economic and strategic ties across West Asia and Africa.

The journey’s opening stop in Amman, Jordan, carries special historic weight as it marks 75 years of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries. Invited by King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with the King and senior Jordanian leaders to review ongoing bilateral cooperation and identify new areas for partnership. The visit underscores deep civilisational bonds, expanding trade and regional peace initiatives, and includes engagement with the Indian community resident in Jordan.
From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia — his first official visit to the nation — where he will meet Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in Addis Ababa. Prime Minister Modi will focus discussions on expanding cooperation in trade, technology and people-to-people ties. During his Ethiopia visit, he will also address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, where he will highlight India’s democratic journey and shared global priorities.
The final leg of the tour takes Mr. Modi to Oman from December 17–18 at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. India and Oman share 70 years of diplomatic relations, rooted in centuries-old commercial and cultural exchange. The visit aims to reinforce strategic collaboration on energy, defence, commerce and diaspora engagement, building on the strong foundation of friendship and mutual interests.
This tour highlights India’s ongoing efforts to broaden its international partnerships and deepen engagement with key global regions.
