Telangana Government Constitutes Committee To Investigate Inter Results Issue

The Telangana Government constituted a fact finding committee to investigate the Intermediate (Inter) results of the 1st and 2nd year 2019.

G. Jagadish Reddy, the Education Minister of Telangana, on the 23rd of April, promised the students who appeared for the Inter exams of 2019, strict action would be taken with regard to the Inter results issue.

Recently, on the 18th of April, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) declared the Inter results for 2019. However, after two days, the students and their parents alleged the TSBIE of evaluating the papers inefficiently. Due to incorrect evaluation, approximately 6 students committed suicide.

Mr. Reddy said, the fact finding committee is investigating the Inter results goof up and based on their report, the State Government will take action against the TSBIE, if the body is found guilty.

Mr. Reddy asked the parents and students to be calm and assured the parents the students will get justice. He also asked the parents not to be persuaded by the efforts of the opposition parties who are trying to use the Inter results issue for their political agendas. The opposition parties are using the issue to criticise the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) raised the Inter results issue and blamed KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, for the same.

Jagadish Reddy also advised the students who failed according to the Inter results, to apply for recounting and re evaluation to clear their doubts regarding the results.

The students and their parents are protesting against the TSBIE since the 20th of April, for evaluating the papers inaccurately.

The matter was highlighted after the students reported goof ups in their mark sheets. Many students who appeared for the exams were marked absent, whereas a topper student of the 1st year was given 0 in Telugu in her 2nd year result.

The Students Federation of India (SFI,) the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP,) the Telangana Parents Association (TPA) and the parents of the students are protesting against the TSBIE and sought an explanation regarding the results.

According to the TSBIE website, a total of 59.9 % and 65 % of students passed Inter 1st and 2nd year respectively.

Stay tuned for further updates.
