On Wednesday, a sub inspector from Kukunoorpally police station shot himself dead with his service revolver. The police committed suicide in his police quarters in Siddipet district.
The policeman has been identified as Prabhakar Reddy who was from Yadadri district. The Assistant Commissioner of Police in Gajwel division reported that the incident happened when Reddy was alone at home around 11:30 A.M., on Wednesday morning.
Girishar, ACP of Gajwel division said, “So far we have not recovered any suicide note. We are investigating the case. Accordingly, we will register a case.”
The local media has reported from the family of the deceased that the SI committed suicide due to the increasing harassment he got from his seniors.
Prabhakar’s family and relatives protested outside the police station and have demanded a probe into his suicide.
Just last year, T Ramakrishna Reddy, a sub inspector from Kukunoorpally police station also killed himself with his service revolver in his quarters. This suicide was also alleged to be due to harassment at work.
The SI went as far as leaving a suicide note that clearly stated that he killed himself because he was being harassed by the division DSP and Circle Inspector.
The SI’s suicide note was two pages long and was addressed to Medak SP. The note said the Siddipet DSP Sridhar and CI Venkataiah were pressuring him to get more mamool (hafta) and give it to them.
