Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir use Civilians as Human Shield

Since early this morning, security forces have been in a gun battle with terrorists in Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. The exchange of fire has already led to the death of a local woman who was in the middle of the firing. Sources have revealed the terrorists are hiding in a house in the area.

The police reported, “Security forces were fired at when they launched an operation in Batpora village after a tip off about the terrorists hiding in a house. In the cross firing, the woman was wounded and later succumbed to her injuries.”

The victim was identified as Tahira (44) sustained serious injuries in the crossfire and was rushed to a district hospital in the area where she succumbed to her injuries.

Security forces received a tip off that led them to Brenti-Batpora where they cordoned off the area and set up a search operation. The operation was to find the three terrorists that are believed to be hiding in the area. The terrorists include Basheer Lashkari who is a top Lashkar e Taiba terrorist. Basheer is believed to be involved in the killing of Feroz Ahmed Dar, a Kashmiri police officer, and five other cops.

Officials reported the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists started firing at the officials using civilians as human shields in the process.

The police reported, “Some terrorists are still holed up in the house. Efforts are ongoing to take out the civilians.”
