Twitter is flooded with posts saluting the bravery of Major Ketan Sharma, a soldier of Indian National Army.
On the 17th of June, a group of terrorists attacked Major Ketan Sharma and three other security officials during an encounter in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter broke out between the Army officials and the terrorists after the officials launched a search operation, based on an intelligence report.
According to the intelligence report, a few terrorists were hiding in the Achabal area of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir.
Major Ketan Sharma, along with the other three Army officials, was fighting against the terrorists when one of the terrorists opened fire at them.
Major Ketan Sharma died on the spot, whereas the other three officials sustained serious injuries and were admitted to 92 Base Hospital of the Army in Srinagar for treatment.
Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Rajdeep Singh Surjewala, Navdeep Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other politicians took to Twitter and expressed their condolences to Major Ketan Sharma’s family.

Major Ketan Sharma’s mortal remains were taken to Delhi at 12:00 P.M., on the 18th of June.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his condolences to Major Ketan Sharma’s family and announced an ex gratia of Rs. 25 lakhs.
Adityanath also offered a government job to a family member of Major Sharma. Further, the Uttar Pradesh CM announced, a road in Meerut will be named after Major Ketan Sharma.
The last rites of Major Ketan Sharma will be performed at his residence in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh with full military honours.
