Vijayawad:a In a significant breakthrough, police in Vijayawada’s Two Town area have arrested a notorious thief involved in multiple daylight burglaries across the city. Sheikh Shabbir Babu, a resident of Mahanthi Puram, was apprehended during a search operation conducted by the Vijayawada police. The authorities also recovered 180 grams of stolen gold jewelry valued at approximately Rs. 4 lakh.

Addressing the media at a press conference held at the Two Town Police Station, Vijayawada West Zone ADCP G. Ramakrishna disclosed the details of the arrest. According to the ADCP, Shabbir Babu had a history of criminal activity, targeting locked houses during daylight hours. Over the past two years, he had committed five thefts in the jurisdiction of the Two Town Police Station and two additional thefts within the One Town Police Station area, bringing the total to seven burglaries.

Surveillance and Capture

Due to Shabbir Babu’s repeated offenses, a “rowdy sheet” had been opened against him in the Two Town Police Station jurisdiction. ADCP Ramakrishna explained that the police had been monitoring his movements closely, setting up surveillance to catch him in the act.

Shabbir Babu was arrested at Komala Center in Vijayawada while the police conducted a coordinated search operation. The teams successfully recovered 180 grams of gold jewelry, which had been stolen during his burglaries.

Following his arrest, the police produced Shabbir Babu in court, and further legal proceedings are underway. The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining vigilance in the city to prevent future crimes of this nature.

The arrest of Shabbir Babu marks a major success in the police’s efforts to crack down on criminal activity in the region.
