Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire, Indian Army Responds

On Monday, Pakistani Army initiated firing in the Nowshera of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian army responded to the firing with equal force. This is the second ceasefire on Monday, with the first along Line of Control in Krishna Ghati sector in the valley.

Lt. Col. Manish Mehta, a defence spokesperson said, “The Pakistani troops violated ceasefire with small arms, automatics rocket projectile grenades (RPG,) recoilless rifles and mortars around 8.45 A.M., in Lam sector along the LoC. Indian Army retaliating strongly and effectively.”

The firing, started at 6:20 A.M., with indiscriminate small arms, automatics and mortars. The ceasefire in Ghati was the second in two days. On Sunday, the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire at three different sectors along the LoC.

The first was in Bhimber Gali sector in Rajouri district, the second was when Pakistan Rangers started firing at the Border Security Forces (BSF,) in Ramgarh Sector of Samba district on the international border. The third was near LoC in Nowshera sector.

The reports by the Indian Army say these firings were a diversion to let 200 armed terrorists enter from the launch pads across the LoC from the Phallanwalla in Jammu to Kupwara-Baramulla sectors in the Kashmir valley.
