On Monday, Pakistan violated the ceasefire yet again and opened an unprovoked fire along the Line of Control near the villages in Nowshera sector if Jammu and Kashmir. This incident happened in the Rajouri district according to officials. There have been no reports of casualties in the firing.

Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, speaking to a popular news daily said, “Ceasefire violation by Pakistan took place at Ans and Bhandaar at 10:55 P.M., (Monday.) Lam and Kalsian areas were also affected.” He also said that around 1,674 villagers were evacuated from the area to relief camps.

At around 4:00 P.M., on Monday, villages in Nowshera witnessed firing including Sarya, Khamba, Anwas and Bhandar. All these villages lie along the LoC. With Pakistan violating ceasefire agreement time and again, the people along the India-Pakistan border in the valley are suffering from cross border firing.

The intense shelling by Pakistan Army in Rajouri district forced many families in Jhangar and Bhawani areas to evacuate and move to temporary shelters that have been set up by the government. Educational institutions, including schools, have been closed indefinitely in Nowshera affecting 4,600 students.
