The police and security forces of Jammu and Kashmir launched a search operation in Samba, a town near the border in Jammu and Pathankot National Highway. This was initiated after reports of suspected movement of four persons were noticed on Thursday.

The police were tipped off about the movement by some laborers working in that area. They informed spotting four civil clothed persons with arms in the main chowk in Samba. The armed men were seen heading towards SIDCO industrial area close to Basantar river belt.

A senior police official said, “Search operation was launched in Samba town along the highway after some people reported about suspected movement of four persons in the wee hours today.” He added, “We searched the entire area and till now found nothing. CCTV footage showed some unarmed persons in civilian clothes.”

The Basantar river that flows into Pakistan crossing the International Border is a major infiltration route used by militants for entering Jammu and Kashmir.
