Let’s cut to the chase. Global Warming is an actual threat and not a made up issue that many believe it to be. The Earth is getting hotter and hotter day by day courtesy the speeding, smoke-dispensing vehicles, the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide emitted from various appliance and the ruthless takeover of forest lands only to make cement jungles. It is not just the word of mouth but data and figures from tons of surveys and research done by scientists. It has been shown that the average temperature of the Earth has increased from 0.4 degree Celsius to 0.8 degree Celsius. And if we continue this way, we may well reach a temperature difference of over 1 degree by 2100. This may not seem much. A few degrees higher on the thermostat, what does it matter you may ask. But in fact the terrible repercussions are being felt all over the world!
Look at these 13 pictures that tell the tale:
- A picture depicting the cracked terrain at Lodwar, Kenya due to critical water shortage.

- The alarmingly quick disappearance of the Passu Glacier in Pakistan.

- It is always flood season at Bedono, Indonesia.

- And Somerset, United Kingdom is almost always submerged.

- So is Fischbeck, Germany.

- An eerie peek into the wrath of nature can be seen commonly through brush fires at Lake Hughes, California.

- These are not the lovely clouds at sunrise but the polluted air of Wuhan, China.

- That blue patch does make for a great picture, but it is actually the melting coastline of Greenland.

- The red area in between the Gulf Coast is sure not a good sign.

- Imagine something as vast and cold as Vincennes Bay, Antarctica getting warmer and wetter.

- On the other hand, Tehuacán, Mexico, is getting hotter and drier.

- Coastlines are getting swallowed by the seas like this one in Shishmaref, Alaska.

- Lastly, that Sun shining so bright in Marree, Australia is just too bright, making is a real hot place.

Unsettling though these pictures are, we still have a fighting chance to cool down our Earth and stop from getting flooded or fired to a crisp. There are already many campaigns and initiatives being taken up to appeal against the climate change. You can do your bit by taking forward the message, spreading awareness. But most importantly, like charity, change also starts at home. Switching off a dripping tap, a turned on light, or cutting down the usage of vehicles. Plant a sapling. Anything and everything that will benefit the nature and help us win this marathon against global warming.
