7 Pakistani Fishermen Arrested For Fishing In Indian Waters

Yesterday, a Pakistani fishing boat with 7 crew members were arrested by the Coast Guard off the Gujarat coast. It is said the fishermen crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and reached the Indian waters. The boat was intercepted by a Coast Guard ship Meera Behn, during a routine patrol.

A Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) from Ahmedabad said, “The fishing boat, Al-Hilal, was detected inside Indian waters around 16 nautical miles off the coast of Jakhau in the Kutch region of Gujarat by Coast Guard Ship Meera Behn.” He further added all the crew members are fishermen and Pakistani nationals.

According to the Defence PRO Official, all the 7 members will be handed over to the Marine Police Division in Kutch once they reach the coast. It is said the coast guard has intensified patrolling and surveillance in areas along the coast in Gujarat.
