An era comes to an end. Barack Hussein Obama finally steps down from the most important job in the United States of America and perhaps even the world. And the country moaned his loss from the position, hinting its fear at the upcoming future. There were in fact chants of “Do Not Leave” from the crowd as Barack Obama ascended to give his final speech at Chicago on 11th January 2017.
Obama gave a scintillating speech in which he talked about how much America has achieved in the past 8 years and how much more is left to be journeyed onto. He talked about healthcare, auto industry, economy and much more. Most importantly he helped give not only the citizens of America but the citizens of the world hope that better days are coming. Saying that the “future is ours,” Obama went on to say that the greatness of America lies not in its growth but in its “capacity for change.”
The one hour speech also included some major motivation from the commander in chief who moved people to applause and awe. Obama also urged people to have faith in themselves for being proponents of change. “If you’re disappointed by your elected officials, grab a clipboard, get some signatures and run for office yourself,” he said. “Show up. Dive in. Stay at it. Sometimes you will win. Sometimes you will lose.”

The two term President concluded his speech by thanking his “family” of Americans, his wife Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. If the first part of his speech was captivating, his last part was compassionate. Obama wiped away a tear or two as he thanked his amazing wife and the First Lady Michelle Obama, who had supported him throughout his tenure. As for Joe Biden, you could plainly see the kind of brotherhood these two fine men had developed betwixt them. Nothing could have been more emotional yet inspiring.
A lot of twitter buzz was also created because of the absence of the second daughter of the Obama’s – Sasha Obama. Sasha was missing from her father’s farewell address and it didn’t go unnoticed. But there couldn’t have been a better reason for this as the explanation that surfaced was even better that you could imagined. As ever, Obamas set a standard even in parenting when Sasha chose to attend her exam than her father’s speech, complying to her duty as a student. With the World at their feet, these two girls have been brought up with such immaculate morals that is a revelation in this age of instant gratification.
The dialogue ended with the usual of National Anthem and the crowd a giving standing ovation to this dynamic, humble and humorous President that America had the honour of having. Barack Obama not only thought us how to be a great leader but also a good person. Someone to whom people can look up and relate as well. “That, after all, is why we serve – to make people’s lives better.” We are sure that people all over will miss this amazing family that brought dignity and direction and standards to the White House.
