Two Chinese nationals, Lee Zing Yang and Meng Li Si were abducted recently in Quetta, Balochistan. Islamabad is now claiming that the victims were offered police security which they refused, said a Pakistan media.
Pakistan’s interior ministry told the media the two Chinese nationals were taken into police custody from Quetta’s Kharotabad area days before their abduction and they were informed about the threat to their security.
“With regard to the two Chinese who were confirmed to have been killed by the Islamic State, nothing has so far been found to verify the suspicion that they were involved with a Korean missionary group,” the official said.
A popular newspaper reported Pakistan cancelled the visa of a South Korean national who was allegedly associated with the victims. The South Korean national was involved in illegal Christian missionary work and missionary work is unlawful in Pakistan, which is an Islamic country.
On Wednesday, China said to its citizens that they should always ‘observe local laws’ while travelling abroad.
“We always ask Chinese nationals travelling overseas to observe local laws and regulations, respect local customs and practices and heighten awareness of potential risks,” said a statement on China’s foreign ministry website, attributed to spokesman Lu Kang.

The sources of Pakistan government said the authorised officials are checking the background of the two Chinese nationals and analyzing various sources to get more details.
