Indira Gandhi – The first woman Prime Minister of India, Ms. Indira Gandhi was the political figure who let us know the power of women in the field of politics.
Indira Priyadarshini Nehru, daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, was born, on the 19th of November 1917. She stood as the Prime Minister of India, after the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri, in 1966.
Sushma Swaraj – The External Affairs Minister of India is another political figure, who made the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government proud. Sushma Swaraj, who practiced law in the Supreme Court, was born on the 14th of February 1952.
She was awarded as the state level best Hindi Speaker for 3 years and she was the youngest (27 years old) Cabinet Minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
Mamata Banerjee – The Chief Minister of West Bengal and the President of the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) Mamata Banerjee is another definition of power and strength in the political world.
Popularly known as ‘Mamata Didi,’ Ms. Banerjee is the most prominent name in West Bengal politics. She is the first female politician to hold the office in W. Bengal.
It will be interesting to know, before entering the political field, Ms. Banerjee worked as a stenographer, a primary school teacher and a sales girl.
Sonia Gandhi – The name itself is an introduction, an Indian politician of Italian descent, Ms. Gandhi is the Chairperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC.) Ms. Gandhi led the INC for approximately 19 years and still counting.
Ms. Gandhi was born on the 9th of December 1946, in Vicenza, Italy.
Mayawati Das – The President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) Mayawati Prabhu Das was born on the 15th of January, 1956. Her political agenda emphasised more on the social change for the underprivileged society in India.
She has also been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh four times and belongs to the Jatav caste. She is one of the most powerful female figures and a Dalit leader.
