Seoul: The toll reached nine from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) on Wednesday in South Korea. Nearly thirteen new MERS cases have been registered. Another two people, a 75-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man, died from the virus on Wednesday. More than 2,800 people remain quarantined. More than 2,000 schools remain closed.
Majority number of cases have been registered in a major hospital in southern Seoul. It is heard nearly 13 new people were also infected from the virus. Another three victims were identified at three different hospitals in Seoul.
The ministry said that the nine people, who died from the virus, had pre-existing health conditions. It is learnt that all the infections were limited to hospitals and had not spread to communities outside the hospital.
