The Taliban ruled Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) wrote to the Indian Civil Aviation regarding the resumption of flights.
On the 29th of September, the Afghanistan CAA wrote to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India and asked to resume commercial flights between India and Afghanistan.
The CAA’s Acting Minister Mr. Alhaj Hameedullah Akhunzada requested permission to permit Ariana Afghan airline and Kam Air flights between India and Afghanistan. The letter read, “As you are well informed that recently the Kabul airport was damaged and (left) dysfunctional by American troops before their withdrawal. The intention of this letter is to keep the smooth passenger movement between two countries based on signed MoU and our national carriers (Ariana Afghan airline and Kam Air) aim to commence their scheduled flights.”
It is to be noted, after renovation work and technical resolvement, the Kabul International Airport started its operation from the 6th of September. However, no commercial flight from India flew to Afghanistan. The last commercial flight between India and Afghanistan was operated by Air India on the Kabul-Delhi route on the 15th of August.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is yet to take a decision on the matter.
