Visakhapatnam: Shyamala Goli, a 51-year-old swimmer from Samarlakota in Kakinada district, has stunned many by attempting an ambitious 150 km swim in the Bay of Bengal. Under the aegis of the Visakha Coromandel Odyssey Ocean Swimming Organization, Shyamala began her five-day swim from RK Beach, Visakhapatnam, aiming to reach Kakinada.

The event was flagged off on Saturday morning by Visakhapatnam MP Shri Bharat, who lauded Shyamala’s courage and described her feat as a shining example of women’s empowerment. “Shyamala’s adventure proves the sustainable strength and determination of women,” he said.

An Inspiring Journey of Resilience
Shyamala’s story is one of resilience and transformation. Previously, she owned an animation studio but faced significant health challenges due to stress. Despite undergoing medical treatment, her recovery was slow. At the suggestion of friends, she took up swimming less than two years ago to improve her health.

Since then, Shyamala has achieved incredible feats, including swimming between two islands in Lakshadweep and crossing the waters from Sri Lanka to Ramasethu. Her dedication and rapid progress in ocean swimming have captivated many, inspiring countless others to pursue fitness and personal challenges.
