
Amaravati: Vishwa Hindi Parishad National President and Padma Bhushan recipient, Prof. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for restoring the name of NTR University of Health Sciences. Prof. Yarlagadda commended the Chief Minister’s prompt decision upon assuming office, viewing it as a significant gesture to honor the legacy of NTR.
In a press note issued on Saturday from Vijayawada, Prof. Yarlagadda highlighted his resignation from the positions of Chairman of the Official Language Board, Hindi Academy, and Telugu Academy in protest against the previous YSRCP government’s renaming of the institution to YSR University of Health Sciences. He welcomed CM Naidu’s recent announcement to pursue Bharat Ratna for NTR, describing it as a laudable effort.
Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Y. Satya Kumar, also expressed his satisfaction with the swift response in restoring the university’s name.
On this occasion, Prof. Yarlagadda reiterated the Vishwa Hindi Parishad’s mission to promote Hindi globally and achieve its recognition as one of the official languages of the United Nations. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to popularize Hindi internationally and urged students across India to learn the language, predicting that future laws would also be drafted in Hindi. Prof. Yarlagadda remarked on the political landscape, stating that self-inflicted guilt has led to the YSRCP’s current predicament.
