Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Housing Minister K Partha Sarathy emphasized the government’s commitment to providing housing for all eligible citizens. Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Saturday, he criticized the previous administration for misusing funds and highlighted the current government’s efforts in building affordable homes.
Sarathy announced that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will distribute houses to beneficiaries on February 1 in Tanuku Mandal as part of the state’s housing initiative. He stated that despite financial constraints, the government allocated ₹502 crore under ARNEL for house construction.
The minister revealed that the government aims to construct 7 lakh houses by March 2025 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Additionally, 6 lakh houses are targeted for completion in the second phase. The initiative includes providing 3-cent house plots for the rural poor and 2-cent plots for the urban poor.
Sarathy also addressed political developments, stating that Vijayasai Reddy’s resignation was due to personal reasons and unrelated to the YSR Congress Party’s future strategies.
The housing project underscores the government’s dedication to improving living standards and supporting underprivileged communities across Andhra Pradesh.
