Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Government is gearing up to introduce two pivotal welfare initiatives, ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ and ‘Student Kit,’ aimed at ensuring every child has access to education regardless of financial constraints. These innovative schemes are specifically designed to support mothers in ensuring regular school attendance for their children, thereby curbing dropout rates.
To benefit from these schemes, students from Grade I to Intermediate must possess an Aadhaar card. For those without Aadhaar, the government will accept ten alternative forms of identification temporarily and facilitate Aadhaar registration through the Education Department.
Kona Sashidhar, Secretary of the School Education Department, has issued directives outlining the implementation process. Under ‘Thalliki Vandanam,’ mothers or guardians below the poverty line will receive Rs 15,000 annually, contingent upon their children maintaining a 75% attendance record. Meanwhile, the ‘Student Kit’ scheme will equip students in government and aided schools with essential educational materials.
The government has specified acceptable alternative documents for Aadhaar registration, including voter ID cards, Kisan passbooks, employment scheme cards, ration cards, passports, and more. Detailed orders regarding these schemes’ procedures, starting with Aadhaar verification for ‘Thalliki Vandanam,’ are forthcoming.
